Dear Mom

Dear Mom,

It’s been three years without you….

Not a day goes by that I don’t think of you and wish you were here.

Wish I could call you and ask you about that recipe…or tell you how all my flowers are blooming. You’d be so proud! I may have gotten a “green thumb” from you!

Mother's Day hydrangeas

I’d love to show you our house…oh how I’ve changed it up since you were here.  You’d love it’s bright and cozy feeling…with a “farmhouse” kind of charm. I sure would enjoy sharing “coconut mocha” coffee with you out on our patio. We’d watch the kids play and gather eggs…it would remind you of growing up in the country :)

Mother's Day coffee sign

I really miss shopping with you…I’ve found so many Antique shops that you would love :) Shannon takes me to Canton a few times a year, and we find cool stuff together…he is my shopping buddy now.

Mother's Day rose

I want you to know that we talk about you all the time…and are reminded of you daily by little things like your hats hanging on the wall or when Paula Deen comes on the Food Network :) I even drink a cup of coffee in the afternoons…just like you did. I remind myself of you in so many ways.

Mother's Day hats

And the grandkids…they have grown up so much…they are busy with friends, music lessons, gymnastics, and t-ball…you’d be so proud of their accomplishments. And we still make gingerbread cookies at Christmastime to keep your tradition going.

I want to thank you for teaching me how to be a good mom. For teaching me scriptures I hold in my heart still this very day.

Mother's Day flowers

And though we miss you terribly, I want you to know that we are ok. We are happy and healthy and God has blessed us with precious people that love on us just like you did. And we find comfort in knowing we will see you in Heaven one day.

But until then…

Here is a song dedicated to you and all kinds of “moms” on this beautiful MOTHER’S DAY!

I love you MOM!

A Peek Into the Garden

Good morning sweet friends! How are you all?

Today I wanted to share a small part of our garden with you…this is just an area right off our back porch.

spring garden 2013-3

As you can see, the Spanish Lavender is in full bloom.

And I’m so excited that I found STOCK this year!! It’s one of my favorite spring/summer blooms of all…I always buy it at the grocery store when I find it. To me, it smells so divine.

I’ve been enjoying the sunshine and working in our garden.

Our herbs are really taking off lately also. The thyme is blooming right now.

And this “tangerine sage” has a gorgeous red bloom that the butterflies adore!

And the bridal’s wreath is enjoying the ladybug visitors.

And here is a peek of our lilacs…gorgeous blooms and fragrance! I hope we can keep these alive here in the south…we’ll see!

And that’s a little tour of our spring garden…hopefully I can share more with you soon.

Today I’m so excited! We are expecting very special guests! Amy from All Things Home is coming to spend some time with our family…we have gotten very close over the last few years.  It’s going to be a sweet week with late night talks, stories over coffee, and cooking some delicious meals together.

Barn Door Coffee Table

Hey my friends! It’s Friday! How was your week?

We have been so busy around here trying to get our front flower beds done…yay! I will be sharing the flower beds with you soon, I hope.

But for today…I wanted to share our new coffee table creation. We used a vintage barn door on top of our existing coffee table.

See the barn door leaning against the wall in this kitchen photo:

We screwed it to the top of the small coffee table below:

Den wreath

Then we gave it a coat of white paint for easy clean-up.

And here it is all finished:

This area in the center of our three sofas needed a larger table.  This is our family room, where we eat snacks, play games, and kick up our feet to watch TV.  It makes the perfect coffee table.

I’m sharing our creation with:

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Have a wonderful weekend :)

Happy Easter

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead... (NIV) I Peter 1:3

Easter 5

Happy Easter to all of you…my sweet blogging family :)

Easter 4

My kids LOVE dyeing Easter eggs! And this year, we experimented with the natural egg dyes.  Oh, we had so much fun! We used directions from Lara at Air Kissed…and the eggs turned out beautifully--so pastel and pretty.

Easter 6

We used beets, blueberries, turmeric, and red cabbage. So easy, and so fun!

Easter 7

I also wanted to share a simple place setting I used for a family reunion luncheon.  Wrapped chocolate bunnies set inside each glass served as each place card. My dad’s family came,  and we had so much fun together eating cucumber sandwiches and broccoli salad. It was so nice to visit and catch up :)

Easter 8

I found the beautiful frayed napkins at Janet’s Home Goods Alacarte ETSY shop. They are a gorgeous natural color. I love them, Janet! They go with Everything :)

Easter 9

Well, friends, I hope you enjoy a lovely day with your family celebrating Easter and all of your special traditions.  I am thankful for each of you and appreciate you visiting me here on my blog!

Blessings
